GLUTEN FREE CONFIDENCE SCORE: 7/10
Cottage cheese is usually gluten-free, but not always. Even though cottage cheese is a very simple food item (and naturally should be gluten-free) manufacturers usually add preservatives, etc and that introduces a risk of gluten contamination. Additionally, there are many manufacturing methods some of which may result in gluten cross-contamination. In reality though, we have seen very few reports of people having problems with cottage cheese. However, one brand apparently has caused some issues because they use a barley enzyme in manufacturing. That brand is Organic Valley.
