B.Y.O.Snacks: Our Strategy for Clean Eating Anywhere
“Got anything I can eat?” It’s a familiar refrain for those of us eating vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free. And while restaurants are getting better about expanding their menus, there are still lots of places where you might have trouble finding the right kind of food to meet your needs.
If you’re like Elliott & me, you don’t want to up-end everyone else’s plans when you get together, or force them all to eat only vegetarian or gluten-free food. But at the same time, you don’t want to go hungry…or order food that goes against your own principles and dietary guidelines.
It’s a situation we’ve found ourselves in all too often, but we knew there had to be a better way. So we started making our own food using only plant-based, gluten-free ingredients that we were proud to eat, asking our chef to stir up recipes so tasty that we never felt like we were missing out.
Now we take a few Bars or our new snack-sized Grab & Go Bites (in Coconut Cashew, Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter, and Dark Chocolate Coconut—yum!) with us wherever we go, from the golf course to the beach to the gym. When our friends or family want to stop somewhere that doesn’t cater to our needs, we know we can just pull out our favorite snack and go from hangry to happy in no time flat.
One caveat: our snacks look so good that even people who aren’t plant-based eaters want to try them…and then one more. But hey, we’re happy to share, and we know where to get more.
